Ha Ji-won Reflects on Her Role in 'Climax' as the Drama Concludes
Actress Ha Ji-won (47) has shared her heartfelt thoughts as the ENA drama 'Climax' comes to an end.

In the final episode aired on the 14th, Ha Ji-won portrayed 'Choo Sang-ah,' an actress who falls to the bottom due to a same-sex scandal but makes a spectacular comeback. In the episode, Choo Sang-ah, along with her husband Bang Tae-seop (played by Joo Ji-hoon), exposes the murder instigation charges against Lee Yang-mi (played by Cha Joo-young), achieving perfect revenge. Notably, Choo Sang-ah delivers a powerful catharsis to viewers by mouthing the words "I hope you live long and suffer" to the arrested Lee Yang-mi.

Choo Sang-ah receives the Best Actress award at an international film festival and is on the rise again as an actress. Meanwhile, Bang Tae-seop is likely to be elected as mayor. However, she receives a chilling call from Lee Yang-mi, who is in prison, saying, "See you soon." Overwhelmed with fear, Choo Sang-ah vomits in the bathroom and asks Bang Tae-seop, "Where are we, is this hell?" This is followed by a striking ending where she enters a campaign rally with a bright smile, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.

Ha Ji-won expressed, "I had many concerns from the start to portray Choo Sang-ah, a character struggling to survive," adding, "I completely let go of myself to become Choo Sang-ah, not Ha Ji-won, making it a memorable work in my acting career." She continued, "It was a physically and mentally challenging journey with many emotionally intense scenes, but I'm proud that my transformation was well-received," and thanked the viewers for their love for the show.

Regarding the extreme challenges of portraying same-sex chemistry, intense confrontations, and shocking downfall scenes, she said, "There were many scenes that went beyond the conventions of existing works, but I focused on deeply understanding and delicately expressing the complex aspects of Choo Sang-ah, whose line between good and evil is blurred." Finally, Ha Ji-won stated, "'Climax' was a work that broke my own boundaries to a new level. I thank the director, staff, and fellow actors, and I look forward to greeting the audience with a fresh role in my next project."
