Musical Actress Kim Sun-young Shares Intense Preparation for 'Lempicka'
Musical actress Kim Sun-young has revealed why she was so dedicated to rehearsing near her home before the opening of her latest show.

On the morning of the 16th, Kim Sun-young, who is currently starring in the musical 'Lempicka', was interviewed at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Kim plays the role of 'Tamara de Lempicka', while her husband, Kim Woo-hyung, takes on the role of 'Tadeusz Lempicki', marking a unique collaboration for the couple.

During the 'Lempicka' press call on the 26th of last month, Kim Woo-hyung mentioned, "We secured a rehearsal space near our home to practice together and even ran through the entire show. We prepared with that level of intensity."

In the interview, Kim Sun-young explained the reason behind this decision. She stated, "Firstly, we don't have a space at home where I can really project my voice," adding, "I was undergoing rehabilitation for an elbow fracture, so I felt pressured not to fall short in practice. I believed I needed additional personal rehearsal time, which is why we proceeded in this manner."

Kim further elaborated, "There are many rehearsal spaces near our home, so I practiced as much as I did at the theater. This additional practice made me feel at ease. I rehearsed by continuously reciting lines and singing. The handicap of my injury gradually became less of a psychological burden."

Meanwhile, 'Lempicka' tells the story of the real-life figure Tamara de Lempicka, who maintained her artistic identity amidst the Russian Revolution and world wars. The musical vividly portrays her journey of discovering her artistic self and authentic identity through painting as a means of survival. It will be performed at the COEX Artium in Seoul until June 21.
