Actors from 'How to Become a Building Owner in Korea' (hereafter 'Building Owner') have shared their most memorable scenes as the unpredictable drama approaches its finale on April 19. Despite not conducting any closing interviews, the cast has left a lasting impression. 'Building Owner' follows the successful 'Undercover Miss Hong,' which boasted double-digit ratings. Although the series was highly anticipated due to its star-studded cast, it received mixed reviews for its storyline and direction.
tvN's weekend drama 'Building Owner' has captivated audiences with its unique blend of thriller and black comedy. According to Good Data Corporation's FUNdex, the show has topped the TV-OTT buzz rankings for four consecutive weeks in the weekend drama category. It also secured the top spot in both the overall and drama categories on the OTT platform TVING for the second week of April.
The standout performances of the actors have been the driving force behind 'Building Owner's' distinctive and unique scenes. As the main cast reflects on the scenes that highlighted their characters and the show's unique traits, anticipation and curiosity build for the unexpected moments that may unfold in the final two episodes.
Im Soo-jung chose the first collaboration episode between Kim Sun (played by Im Soo-jung) and her husband Ki Soo-jong in episodes 4 and 5. Despite the gravity of the criminal situation, the scenes evoked a peculiar humor. "Every scene where Kim Sun and Ki Soo-jong teamed up against Oh Dong-gi (played by Hyun Bong-sik) was enjoyable. These scenes were filled with elements that showcased the drama's genre-specific fun and charm," she explained.
Kim Jun-han portrayed the intense exit of Min Hwal-seong, who, driven by a desire for recognition, kidnaps his wife Jeon Yi-kyung but later regrets it. "The scene in episode 10 where I meet Yi-kyung holding our child's urn is unforgettable. Although we were a couple in the drama, we didn't share many scenes together, making this one particularly poignant due to the loss of a child. The pain of pushing each other away in grief was heart-wrenching," he conveyed.
Jung Soo-jung convincingly depicted Jeon Yi-kyung's descent into revenge in the latter part of the series. She highlighted the rooftop scene of Seyoon Building in episode 10, where Yi-kyung's rampage coincides with a fire incident. "It was a scene where all the characters gathered, and the shoot took a long time, extending into the night. The wire action and the complexity of Yi-kyung's emotions made it particularly memorable," she said.
Shim Eun-kyung portrayed the chilling 'pure evil' character Yona, a unique female villain working for Real Capital. She selected Yona's bloody action scenes in episodes 4 and 10. "The scene where Yona kills Morgan (played by Miyavi) in episode 4 was months in the making and required the most effort. It was the first time Yona's brutal nature was revealed, making it memorable. The scene in episode 10 where Yona approaches the police after committing murder turned out much cooler than expected, and I had high hopes for it. We shot it right after just one day of action practice," she shared.
The actors' performances that crafted 'Building Owner's' distinctive scenes are set to explode in the final two episodes. As the characters' desires and the redevelopment battle intensify, viewers are eager to see who will emerge as the ultimate survivor.
'How to Become a Building Owner in Korea' airs its 11th episode on April 18, with the finale, episode 12, airing on April 19 at 9:10 PM.
