Fans of South Korean entertainer Yoo Jae-suk are calling for the disclosure of judging criteria after he was completely excluded from the nominations in the entertainment category of the Baeksang Arts Awards.
On the 14th, Yoo Jae-suk's fans released a statement emphasizing that the core issue is not the exclusion of a specific individual, but rather the lack of explanation for why content with high popularity and achievements was entirely left out of the nominations.
Fans particularly pointed out that Yoo Jae-suk was nominated for Best Male Entertainer at last year's awards, and the related content 'Pung Hyang GO' won a production award, making this year's complete omission even harder to understand.
They are demanding the reasons for Yoo Jae-suk and his related content's exclusion, detailed judging criteria and comparison principles, and the disclosure of evaluation standards for the entertainment category. They stressed that if an incomprehensible result arises, the organizers must provide a responsible explanation.
Previously, the Baeksang committee stated that the judging period was from April last year to the end of March this year, including terrestrial, cable, OTT, and web content. Despite this, Yoo Jae-suk's works on various platforms, such as tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block', MBC's 'Hangout with Yoo?', YouTube's 'Pinggye GO', and 'Pung Hyang GO' Season 2, were all excluded, fueling the controversy.
