Jang Young-ran Discusses Husband's Unemployment and Future Plans on YouTube

Korean TV personality Jang Young-ran recently opened up about her husband's current unemployment status and his plans for the future.

On October 8, Jang Young-ran's YouTube channel 'A-Class Jang Young-ran' released a video titled 'Five Traits of People Who Can't Get Married Despite Being Attractive and Well-Off.'

In the video, Jang invited 'Hanbang Unnie,' the CEO of a matchmaking company, to discuss the latest marriage trends. During their conversation, they highlighted the 'Top 5 Behaviors That Prevent Marriage,' with the third being 'Lack of Tact and Sense.' Hanbang Unnie explained, "For instance, when a woman asks a man, 'How much do you earn?' or 'Do you own a house?' she might think she's being subtle, but from the man's perspective, it feels like an interrogation."

Jang Young-ran asked, "What about women who only want to be homemakers?" Hanbang Unnie responded, "Men really dislike that." She added, "Ten years ago, women without jobs could still join matchmaking services, but now, if they're unemployed, they don't meet the criteria." She further noted, "Even if they earn just a million won, men want women who can work outside the home."

Jang then inquired, "Does that mean men will also share in childcare?" Hanbang Unnie confirmed, "Yes, men can take paternity leave too. Some men even dream of being stay-at-home dads." Jang appeared momentarily flustered, nodding in agreement, as her own husband is currently unemployed. She quickly clarified, "No, my husband is preparing for the future." She advised, "If any women are currently unemployed, find a job immediately. To meet good people, we must also be good people."

Jang Young-ran married acupuncturist Han Chang in 2009, and they have a son and a daughter. Han Chang opened a traditional medicine clinic in 2021 but closed it last year. During his break, he has been working on publishing an essay and planning his next steps.
