Singer and composer Yoo Seung-bum has revealed the reasons behind his sudden hiatus from the music scene.
Recently, a video titled 'Yoo Seung-bum, Who Lost 2 Billion Won Due to Business Failure, Works at a Bar After Divorce' was uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Exclusive World - The People of That Time.'
The video is an edited version of Yoo Seung-bum's appearance on MBN's 'Exclusive World' aired in April 2025.
Yoo Seung-bum, who gained immense popularity in the 90s with the drama 'Jealousy' starring Choi Jin-sil and Choi Soo-jong, is also known for composing hits like Kim Kyung-ho's 'Forbidden Love,' 'My Love in Heaven,' and the OST 'Reason' for the drama 'Autumn in My Heart.'
He shared his current situation, working at a bar in Gunsan. Yoo Seung-bum explained why he disappeared from the stage, saying, "I decided to create a site to teach music online and gathered very famous musicians to start a company."
He continued, "We started with great confidence, received good investments, and were doing well, but due to my lack of experience and various issues, the company collapsed. I think I fell with a debt of about 2 billion won."
The painful business failure led to personal hardships. He shared, "My wife had a miscarriage, and it was around the time the company collapsed. She wanted to endure and overcome it with me, but I thought I needed to save her, so I chose divorce."
Yoo Seung-bum expressed, "All separations are sad, and all divorces are heartbreaking," adding that his wife fainted multiple times at the entrance of the divorce court before they finalized the divorce.
He also suffered from panic disorder due to various incidents. He recounted, "When the business failed, I went to someone who made a lot of money because of me for help, but they sent their secretary to give me an envelope of money and ran away. As I walked down, I suddenly couldn't breathe, lost all strength, and was drenched in sweat. I rolled on the floor for hours," sharing the struggles he faced after halting his activities.
