The 'Fighting Couple' Jeon Hyun-geun and Gil Yeon-ju have taken a step towards supporting each other.
On the October 7th episode of TV CHOSUN's reality show 'X's Private Life', the fourth episode featured the 'Fighting Couple' Gil Yeon-ju, who appeared in the studio with hosts Kim Gura, Jang Yoon-jung, Jung Kyung-mi, and Cheon Rok-dam to observe Jeon Hyun-geun's life post-divorce. Despite expressing discomfort with Jeon Hyun-geun's contrasting claims, Gil Yeon-ju showed a change in attitude by wishing him well during his blind date, saying, “I hope he lives well.”
Kim Gura greeted Gil Yeon-ju by noting, “You look better,” to which she humorously replied, “I got better after the divorce.” In the following VCR, Jeon Hyun-geun revealed a love story that began with a dating app and led to a premarital pregnancy, and confessed that a secret debt of 50 million won was the spark of their conflict. Kim Gura acknowledged the husband's mistake but also criticized Gil Yeon-ju's aggressive response, which she coolly admitted was equally wrong, lightening the mood.
However, the conflict ran deep. Jeon Hyun-geun mentioned their intense fights that involved the police and revealed a report showing evidence of Gil Yeon-ju hitting him. Reflecting on the past, Gil Yeon-ju admitted, “I couldn't see anything around me.” Kim Gura pointed out that Gil Yeon-ju's behavior was akin to a 'fighting dog', a term she accepted, and he noted her transformation. Meanwhile, Jeon Hyun-geun exposed difficulties in their marriage due to Gil Yeon-ju's drinking habits and obsessive cleanliness, even presenting a medical report of injuries from violence. Kim Gura firmly stated that Gil Yeon-ju's violent reactions prevented her from gaining sympathy.
Further revelations included Jeon Hyun-geun's past divorce and children, which he claimed were resolved, but Kim Gura insisted he should have disclosed them. Jeon Hyun-geun argued that Gil Yeon-ju suggested appearing on 'X's Private Life' to improve their lives, but he felt it was to make him a scapegoat. The situation remained unresolved, leading Gil Yeon-ju to leave with their son and file for annulment, which was not granted due to timing issues, surprising the hosts.
The 'fighting' atmosphere eased as Jeon Hyun-geun's daily life was shown, including his routine of exercising and reading after a 4 AM work finish, which Gil Yeon-ju humorously dismissed as “nonsense.” After a video call with his son, Jeon Hyun-geun tearfully admitted feeling that their son suffered mental abuse from their fights. Gil Yeon-ju responded realistically, urging him to visit more often if he felt guilty. Tensions flared again during a visitation meeting.
During a rare meeting, Jeon Hyun-geun requested photos of their son, but Gil Yeon-ju insisted he visit if he wanted to see him. The argument escalated, with Gil Yeon-ju angrily asking, “Did you come to fight with me?” The hosts expressed concern for the child caught in the middle, with Kim Gura advising Jeon Hyun-geun to avoid insisting on joint visits and Gil Yeon-ju to send photos.
As they watched 'X's Blind Date', Gil Yeon-ju clapped and remarked, “This will be fun.” Jeon Hyun-geun described his ideal partner as someone communicative, without extreme cleanliness, and not a drinker, contrasting with Gil Yeon-ju. Kim Gura noted he was still under her shadow. Watching Jeon Hyun-geun candidly reveal his status as a single parent during the date, Gil Yeon-ju expressed regret that honesty from the start might have led to a happier marriage. She acknowledged his strengths, wishing him well in finding a good partner.
