Comedian Shin Dong-yup recently shared a humorous anecdote about mistakenly thinking EXO's Kai was gay.
On the October 6th episode of SBS's variety show 'A-ni Geun-de Jin-jja!' (hereafter 'A-geun-jin'), Shin Dong-yup appeared as a guest on a terrestrial talk show for the first time in 15 years.
During the show, Shin Dong-yup recounted a past encounter with Kai at a beach in Guam, saying, "I was there with my family. My wife, who speaks Japanese, overheard two Japanese women talking about Kai, and that's how we realized he was at the same beach."
He continued, "There were two men, and Kai was applying oil on one man's back, and then the other man did the same for Kai. So, I told my wife to pretend not to notice."
Shin Dong-yup added, "We are born to love only half of humanity, but Kai seemed to love all of humanity. A true philanthropist," he joked, "At the time, Kai was young, so I thought he might be confused about his identity. I respect that."
Kai responded, "I remember you seemed very flustered when I greeted you. You mentioned thinking we were a couple," to which Shin Dong-yup replied, "You explained it wasn't true, and then you ran off to the beach like this," continuing to playfully tease.
