On the 6th, Ha Ji-won, who stars in the ENA Monday-Tuesday drama 'Climax', was interviewed at the ENA conference room in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
'Climax' depicts the intense survival drama of prosecutor Bang Tae-seop (played by Joo Ji-hoon), who dives into a power cartel to reach the top position in Korea, and those surrounding him. Ha Ji-won plays the role of Choo Sang-ah, Bang Tae-seop's wife and an actress at a crossroads of power and choice.
Ha Ji-won confessed that she lost about 5kg to portray Choo Sang-ah. She said, "Sang-ah is set as a sensitive and meticulously managed actress, so the director wanted a lean look," adding, "Initially, I did a costume fitting after losing a bit of weight, but there was feedback that it would be better if I looked more slender, so I lost additional weight. It was challenging to lose muscle as I have a muscular body type."
She also faced psychological difficulties during the diet. Ha Ji-won recalled, "Sang-ah is a character who suffers from anorexia in the drama. As a result, while playing Sang-ah, I couldn't eat well in real life. There were moments when I couldn't eat like someone with anorexia, which was emotionally very tough."
She added, "At the time, I felt so exhausted that I wanted the filming to end quickly. Fortunately, now that the project is released, I feel relieved and at ease."
'Climax' airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM.
