The play 'Art', featuring Uhm Ki-joon, humorously explores the cracks in a long-standing friendship among three men, triggered by a single painting. The seemingly simple white painting becomes a point of contention, escalating into emotional conflicts, with the process of relationship breakdown and reconciliation naturally unfolding through everyday dialogue.
Uhm Ki-joon takes on the role of 'Serge', a sophisticated dermatologist with a keen interest in art. Serge is the character who ignites the conflict by purchasing the white canvas painting that sets the story in motion.
During the first performance on the 1st, Uhm Ki-joon captivated the audience with his stable vocal delivery, subtle expressions, and detailed eye movements, truly embodying 'Art'. He portrayed the complex inner psychology of the character, including selfishness and jealousy, with depth, seamlessly becoming Serge and proving his presence as the central axis driving the play's flow. The scenes combining intense arguments and humorous ad-libs created a mix of laughter and tension, drawing the audience in.
Having previously played Serge in the 2018, 2020, and 2024 seasons, Uhm Ki-joon returned to the role with a deeper interpretation and relaxed stage presence, enhancing the character's completeness. His refined emotional lines and natural rhythm, honed over time, reaffirmed his reputation as a 'trustworthy actor'.
Uhm Ki-joon expressed his affection for the play, stating, "It's an honor to greet the audience once again with a work I love so much. I hope this play brings joy to many." He also highlighted the enjoyment of following the evolving emotions of the characters over time, the humor from the dialogue, and the laughter points throughout the runtime.
Meanwhile, the play 'Art', showcasing Uhm Ki-joon's 'artful' acting, will be performed at Yes24 Stage 1 until June 14.
