Song Il-gook Reveals Surprising Update on Son Minguk's Musical Journey

Song Il-gook shares an unexpected update about his son Minguk's musical pursuits.

On November 4th at 6:05 PM, KBS2's 'Immortal Songs' will air its 750th episode, titled 'Immortal Songs-2026 Entertainment King of Kings Part 2'. This episode will feature multi-talented entertainers who have officially released albums or singles. Participants include Lalal, the 'Chatflix' team from Gag Concert, Song Il-gook & Oh Man-seok (from the musical 'The Hague'), Lee Chan-seok, and Jo Hye-ryun.

During the show, Song Il-gook reveals, "This is my first time singing officially on a broadcast," expressing an unprecedented level of nervousness. He also shares, "My wife is the head of the court's band, and Minguk is preparing to study composition," highlighting their 'musical family DNA'. He humorously adds, "When I told Minguk I was going on 'Immortal Songs', he scoffed, 'Really? You, Dad?'"

The current teenage phase of the 'triplets' also becomes a topic of interest. Lee Chan-won curiously asks, "Isn't this the time when puberty hits hard?" to which Song Il-gook responds, "It's intense right now. I'm living each day with prayers," eliciting laughter. When asked if puberty affects them despite their mom working at the court, he replies, "Their rebellious phase doesn't target their mom. It's all directed at me, which is tough," expressing his struggles. Kim Jun-hyun advises, "During puberty, they might not like you talking about them on TV," prompting Song Il-gook to plead to the camera, "Kids, please understand. I have to make a living."

On stage, Song Il-gook captivates the audience with a commanding presence, contrasting his relatable dad persona in the waiting room. Performing Cho Yong-pil's 'Dream' alongside Oh Man-seok, he adds significance to the '120th Anniversary of The Hague Secret Envoy', delivering a moving and memorable performance reminiscent of a musical climax.
