Comedian Lee Kyung-kyu's daughter, Lee Ye-rim, has opened up about her plans for having children after six years of marriage.
On October 2, the YouTube channel 'God Kyung-kyu' released a video titled 'Almost Fought with My Daughter Ye-rim Over Baby Plans.' Prior to the video's release, Lee Kyung-kyu shared in the community, 'I'm here to gain some parenting knowledge with Ye-rim. But she says she doesn't want to have a baby. We had a heated discussion. Having children is a patriotic act, everyone.' This post heightened the anticipation among netizens.
In the video, Lee Kyung-kyu and his daughter visited a children's clothing store and discussed her plans for a second generation. When asked by the production team if she felt sad about her father's busy schedule during her childhood, Lee Ye-rim replied, 'You need to be somewhat grown-up to remember, but I don't recall.' To this, Lee Kyung-kyu humorously remarked, 'There's no need to be good to kids until they're five; they don't remember,' showcasing their playful father-daughter chemistry.
As they browsed through children's clothing, the conversation about parenting continued. Lee Kyung-kyu expressed his anticipation for future grandchildren, saying, 'Meeting the store owner today and learning will be beneficial. Knowing about these outfits is the best stance for a grandfather.'
However, when asked about her plans for children, Lee Ye-rim candidly admitted, 'I have no curiosity about babies. I'm unsure about having children because I don't particularly like them.' She further explained, 'I adore dogs, and when I see a baby, I should feel the desire to have one, but I don't. The responsibility is overwhelming. Even raising a dog is challenging, and parenting seems even more so.'
Lee Kyung-kyu shared his perspective, saying, 'If you get married and try but can't have a child, there's nothing you can do. But if you're married, I think having a child is the right thing.' He added, 'I have no intention of pressuring my daughter. I won't show disappointment or insist she has children. It's her life.'
Meanwhile, Lee Ye-rim married soccer player Kim Young-chan in 2021, marking their sixth year of marriage this year. Lee Kyung-kyu and Lee Ye-rim are set to discuss parenting on April 9.
