Renowned translator Hwang Seok-hee has addressed allegations of past sexual offenses.
On the 30th, Hwang took to his social media to state, "I am currently reviewing the related matters with my lawyer. If there are any inaccuracies, unverified information, or expressions that fall outside the scope of legal judgment in the reports, I will consider corrections and responses."
Earlier that day, a media outlet reported that Hwang had committed three sexual offenses. According to the report, Hwang was charged twice: once in 2005 for allegedly assaulting and molesting women on the street, and again in 2014 for sexual assault against a student. He was indicted on charges including indecent assault causing injury and quasi-rape but was released on probation.
Born in 1979, Hwang Seok-hee is a famous translator known for translating over 600 films, including 'Warm Bodies,' 'Carol,' 'Deadpool,' 'Spotlight,' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody.' He married in 2012 and has a daughter.
In February 2022, he appeared on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block.' He mentioned, "I have been translating only theater films for 10 years, translating around 500 films," highlighting that he has translated approximately one film per week for a decade.
Regarding 'B-grade sensibility,' he explained, "I have watched a lot of works by authors Jo Seok and Lee Mal-nyeon. I really like them and have seen almost all their works. They are trendsetters in the 'meme' world. I have seen almost all the memes circulating on the internet."
Meanwhile, Hwang Seok-hee married in 2012 and has one daughter.
