Junji Ito and Kangnam Unite: A Cross-Cultural Exchange of K-Food and Idol Talk
Renowned Japanese horror manga artist Junji Ito and popular Korean entertainer Kangnam have come together for a unique cross-cultural exchange, featuring K-food tasting and discussions about popular idols.

On Kangnam's YouTube channel 'Neighborhood Friend Kangnami,' a video titled 'Introducing the Charm of Dubai Chewy Cookies to Junji Ito Sensei' was uploaded.

In the video, following the filming of MBC's variety show 'I Live Alone,' Kangnam shared a delightful time with Junji Ito, sampling various Korean snacks.

Kangnam gifted Ito with popular Korean snacks like Gimjaban and Matdongsan, and also served the trending 'Dubai Chewy Cookies.'

Junji Ito expressed his admiration for the cookies, revealing that his wife and daughter also make them at home, highlighting his awareness of current trends. Kangnam, with cocoa powder on his lips, was relieved by Ito's praise, providing viewers with a good laugh.

A highlight of their conversation was the discussion about Ito's iconic character 'Tomie' and IVE member Jang Wonyoung. Kangnam noted the striking resemblance between the two, and Ito acknowledged Jang Wonyoung's popularity in both Korea and Japan, agreeing with the comparison.

Ito candidly admitted his fondness for Jang Wonyoung, as Tomie reflects his personal taste. He humorously noted that Tomie, created 40 years ago, would be 55 years old today, showcasing his seasoned wit.

Kangnam also shared his unique approach to networking, gifting Ito a drawing infused with his Hawaiian roots, with his mother's phone number on the back, surprising Ito.

Kangnam mentioned that his mother, fluent in both Korean and Japanese, could assist with any issues during Ito's visit to Korea, adding humor by mentioning her name.

Additionally, Ito revealed that if he hadn't become a horror manga artist, he might have explored sci-fi or romantic comedy genres, yet his creative instincts always lead him back to horror, reaffirming his status as a global master.
