Ador Initiates $43.1 Million Lawsuit Against Former NewJeans Member and Ex-CEO Min Hee-jin
The legal battle between Ador, a subsidiary of HYBE and the agency behind the popular group NewJeans, and former member Danielle along with ex-CEO Min Hee-jin, is set to commence on the 26th with a lawsuit amounting to 43.1 billion KRW (approximately $43.1 million).

The Seoul Central District Court's Civil Agreement Division 31 (Presiding Judge Nam In-soo) will hold the first preparatory hearing for the damages lawsuit filed by Ador against Danielle, her family, and Min Hee-jin, who is currently the CEO of OK Records.

The conflict arose when NewJeans members demanded the return of Min Hee-jin, who had been in dispute with HYBE. In November 2024, they announced the termination of their exclusive contract with Ador. Ador deemed this an unilateral declaration and filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract, which the court upheld, siding with Ador.

Following the court's decision, members Haerin and Hyein returned to Ador, while Hani also decided to remain with the agency. Minji is currently in discussions with Ador.

In December of last year, Ador notified Danielle of the termination of her exclusive contract, attributing the current dispute to her and her family. Subsequently, Ador filed a lawsuit last month seeking damages from Danielle and Min Hee-jin.

Previously, the Civil Agreement Division 31 ruled in favor of Min Hee-jin in a separate lawsuit involving the termination of a shareholder agreement and a 26 billion KRW (approximately $26 million) put option with HYBE. HYBE has appealed the decision and requested a stay of execution on the 25.5 billion KRW payment, which the court recently granted.

Last month, Min Hee-jin held a press conference proposing a resolution to the disputes with HYBE. She stated, "I propose to immediately halt all ongoing civil and criminal lawsuits and resolve all disputes. This proposal includes not only myself but also the NewJeans members and all legal actions against the fandom that has been hurt by this conflict."
