'The King and the Man' Surpasses 15 Million Viewers in Just 50 Days

The film 'The King and the Man' directed by Jang Hang-jun has surpassed 15 million viewers within 50 days of its release.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network, 'The King and the Man' maintained its number one position at the box office on the 25th. The film attracted 110,075 viewers that day, bringing its total audience to 15,031,648. The daily audience increased by about 40,000 compared to the previous day, influenced by 'Culture Day'.

'The King and the Man' became the 34th film in history to reach 10 million viewers on the 6th. It also surpassed 'Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds' (2017, 14.41 million viewers) to become the third highest-grossing film of all time. The top two are 'The Admiral: Roaring Currents' (2014, 17.61 million viewers) and 'Extreme Job' (2019, 16.26 million viewers).

Set in 1457 Cheongryeongpo, 'The King and the Man' tells the story of a village chief who voluntarily exiles himself for the prosperity of his village and a young dethroned king in exile. The film stars Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do.

In second place at the box office was 'Project Hail Mary' directed by Phil Lord, which attracted 73,502 viewers in a day, with a cumulative audience of 717,587.

'Project Hail Mary' follows the journey of Grace (Ryan Gosling), who wakes up alone in the middle of space without memory and embarks on a final mission to save humanity from an impending apocalypse. The film stars Ryan Gosling and Sandra Wheeler.

In third place was the re-released animation 'Demon Slayer: Mugen Train' directed by Haruo Sotozaki, which added 7,306 viewers in a day, bringing its total audience to 5,708,265.

Other films in the top five include 'Attack on Titan: The Final Attack' directed by Yuichiro Hayashi in fourth place, and 'Hoppers' directed by Daniel Chong in fifth.

As of 9 a.m. on the 26th, the real-time reservation rate was led by 'Project Hail Mary' with 111,394 reserved viewers, followed by 'The King and the Man' with 79,120, and 'Demon Slayer: Mugen Train' with 25,091.
