Korean Singer Jeokwoo Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Story of 'I Am a Singer' Appearance
Korean singer Jeokwoo, who transitioned from a rocker to a trot singer, recently shared a behind-the-scenes story from his time on the show 'I Am a Singer'.

On the October 24th episode of KBS1's 'Morning Yard', Jeokwoo, who recently gained attention for his appearance on TV Chosun's 'Miss Trot 4', appeared as a guest.

During the show, Jeokwoo recalled his early days when he joined 'I Am a Singer' (referred to as 'Na Gaseu') and said, "I received a call from the writer. At first, I thought it was a joke. I asked what concept they had in mind for casting me, as the show featured legendary singers."

Jeokwoo continued, "The writer of 'Na Gaseu' said they wanted to find a hidden gem known to singers but not to the public. I had performed at the Seoul Arts Center for three days during my unknown days, and they contacted me after seeing that footage. I was lucky," he said.

After the news of Jeokwoo's appearance on 'Na Gaseu' broke, he became a hot topic, topping search rankings. He recalled, "Even before my first performance, there was a storm of negative comments, some even saying 'you should die'. The reaction was, 'How can someone like you stand on that stage?'"

Jeokwoo was born in 1971 and debuted as a singer in June 2004. He has appeared on various shows, including MBC's 'I Am a Singer' in 2011, KBS2's 'Immortal Songs' in 2014, and MBC's 'Mystery Music Show: King of Mask Singer' in 2017 and 2022.
