Chef Lee Chanyang's Culinary Adventure: Exploring Michelin-Starred Restaurants on 'Save Me! Holmes'

The 'Rebellious Genius' Chef Lee Chanyang is set to explore the restaurant of his mentor, Chef Lee Jun.

On October 26th at 10 PM, MBC's variety show 'Save Me! Holmes' will feature a special episode where chefs from the Netflix show 'Black and White Chef' visit restaurants and homes. This episode is a follow-up to the popular 'Black and White Zone Season 1', now upgraded to 'Black and White Zone Season 2'.

Following the success of Season 1, which featured Kim Sook, Chef Yoon Nam-no, and Chef Park Eun-young, the new season will see the return of the stars from 'Black and White Chef'. Joining them are variety show personalities like 'Silver Spoon' Fabri, 'Rebellious Genius' Chef Lee Chanyang, and 'Diamond Spoon' Yang Se-hyung. Together, they will explore the 'Black and White Zone', a culinary hotspot in Sinsa-dong, where many 'Black and White Chef' restaurants are located.

Chef Lee Chanyang's first appearance on a variety show promises an entertaining journey as he adapts to the new environment. Previously, in February's 'Black and White Zone Season 1', Chef Lee revealed his Yongsan home, which was criticized for its expired ingredients and a freezer so frosted over that accessing ingredients was difficult, sparking a 'hygiene controversy'.

Returning as a guest a month later, Chef Lee faces rigorous training from 'Variety Show Instructor' Jang Dong-min, leaving him visibly flustered. Yang Se-chan encourages him, saying, "If you can endure here, everywhere else will be easy," adding humor to the situation. Meanwhile, 'Variety Show Veteran' Chef Fabri steps in to assist the struggling Chef Lee, highlighting their chemistry as a key point of interest.

The trio visits the area near Hannam Bridge in Sinsa-dong, known as the 'Nest of Gastronomy'. This location is notable for its concentration of Michelin-starred restaurants and establishments run by 'Black and White Chef' participants.

Particularly noteworthy is the reveal of the kitchen at Michelin 2-star Chef Lee Jun's restaurant, where Chef Lee Chanyang once trained. The meticulously maintained open kitchen impresses everyone, with Chef Fabri joking, "This concept doesn't suit my talkative and foul-mouthed style," bringing laughter to the scene. The group also explores 'Legume', Asia's first Michelin-starred vegan restaurant, run by Chef Sung Si-woo, who previously worked under Chef Lee Jun alongside Chef Lee Chanyang.

They also visit the restaurant of 'Goddess of Chinese Cuisine' Chef Park Eun-young, where the kitchen is fully revealed. The team examines key elements of a Chinese kitchen, such as the noodle station, chopping board, and wok station. Chef Park emphasizes the importance of checking exhaust capacity due to the heavy use of fire in Chinese cooking, adding an educational aspect by comparing different kitchen designs based on culinary genres.
