From Actor to Artist: Park Shin-yang Reflects on 13 Years of Painting
Park Shin-yang, who transitioned from actor to painter, candidly shared his thoughts on his 13-year journey.

On the October 19th episode of KBS2's 'Problematic Men in the Rooftop Room,' Park Shin-yang appeared to discuss his life as a painter.

Did Thyroid Disease Lead Him to Painting?

Park Shin-yang revealed that he didn't initially plan to become a painter. He recalled a time when he had to pause his acting career due to thyroid disease, which made it difficult for him to move. During this period, he naturally gravitated towards painting.

He reminisced, "I was overwhelmed by emotions I couldn't understand, and I wanted to express them, so I entered an art studio." Without any formal training, he began painting and was so engrossed that he worked through the night from the very first day.

13 Years of Work, Yet No Understanding?

Currently, Park Shin-yang maintains studios in Seoul and Andong, continuing his work for 13 years.

He confessed, "In the past 13 years, I haven't received understanding from anyone," highlighting the challenges of his life as a painter. He also mentioned his family's reaction, saying, "I wonder how many people in Korea truly understood me," hinting at the isolation and scrutiny he faced.
