The surprising current life of Park Shin-yang, a 13-year veteran painter and actor who once declared he would not sell his paintings, has been unveiled.
Park Shin-yang, a national treasure-level actor of South Korea, will appear on KBS 2TV's 'New Release, Pyeonstorang' (hereafter 'Pyeonstorang'). Known for legendary dramas like 'Lovers in Paris' with a peak viewership of 57.6%, Park Shin-yang will reveal his personal space on 'Pyeonstorang'. However, his current situation is quite different from what the public expected, likely to surprise viewers.
In the VCR to be aired, the 'Pyeonstorang' production team heads to Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, in search of a new chef. The place they were directed to by locals was a large warehouse standing alone in what seemed like a wasteland. Inside, the warehouse was filled with old structures and abandoned tents, resembling a construction site. The eerie atmosphere made the 'Pyeonstorang' team question, "Is there really a chef here?"
Soon, the identity of the unexpected chef was revealed: actor Park Shin-yang. However, he wasn't the Park Shin-yang known for the famous line "Baby, let's go." He appeared in worn-out work clothes, looking quite different from his last appearance in the 2019 KBS drama 'Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho'. The 'Pyeonstorang' team was taken aback by his unexpected appearance.
Park Shin-yang then led the surprised production team to a container inside the large warehouse. The shabby container seemed to be his living space, filled with personal items. Offering coffee and apples to the team, Park Shin-yang explained, "It's so cold that I wear ski pants. I don't even have time to change clothes, so I live in these ski pants," sparking further curiosity.
The 'Pyeonstorang' team expressed concern, wondering, "Is he really living in a container?" and "Has he fallen on hard times?" In reality, Park Shin-yang lives in this warehouse, cooking and eating there. He even rides an electric scooter inside and frequently uses trendy MZ generation slang, leaving the production team in stitches.
Meanwhile, Park Shin-yang met his wife, Baek Hye-jin, who is 13 years younger, at a gym in Busan. Baek Hye-jin is known to be the granddaughter of a chaebol family that operates a domestic agency for an American airline and brought an ice cream brand to Korea.
