Actor Kim Soo-jin Expresses Gratitude to Director Jang Hang-jun for Support During Personal Struggles

Actor Kim Soo-jin, known for her role in 'The Man Living with the King,' expressed her gratitude towards director Jang Hang-jun.

On the 15th, the 'One Mic' channel released a video titled "The Actor Who Touched Danjong's Heart... Meeting at Olgae House Right After 'The Man Living with the King' Surpassed 12 Million Views | EP.56 Kim Soo-jin."

Appearing on the street, Kim Soo-jin introduced herself, saying, "I am Kim Soo-jin, who played the role of Makdong's mother in 'The Man Living with the King.'"

She continued, "As of the video recording, it has surpassed 12 million views at night, achieving an amazing score," and shared her joy, "Everyone said they enjoyed it very much and congratulated me, saying it left a long-lasting impression."

She also shared her excitement about preparing for her next project, saying, "There was a meeting for another project, and they even prepared flowers for me, making me feel like I played a significant role."

Kim Soo-jin also talked about the filming city of Yeongwol for 'The Man Living with the King.' She said, "Yeongwol is a city with beautiful scenery, and there's a place called 'Eorayeon.' I visited the place where Um Heung-do holds Danjong, and the town itself seems to carry a sense of apology and mourning for Danjong, which we were unaware of."

Mentioning the actual 'Baeso (the space where Lee Hong-wi stayed) at Cheongryongpo,' she expressed regret, "There's a boat running now, so they built it a few kilometers away. Didn't they build it well? I suggested we leave it as a memorial, but maintaining and repairing it could be costly if the river overflows during rain."

She praised fellow actors Yoo Hae-jin and Park Ji-hoon, saying, "I was familiar with Yoo Hae-jin from working together on set, but after seeing Park Ji-hoon's performance, I thought it would be a hit after watching the preview."

Regarding the 'most tear-jerking scene,' she said, "I thought he had already made up his mind, but it was a point where many things were at stake, and it seemed like Um Heung-do started to look different, realizing 'it's a human duty to uphold what's right.' I discussed it with the makeup director and shed tears together," adding, "Yoo Hae-jin did an excellent job."

Kim Soo-jin also opened up about her personal struggles, sharing, "When my husband was sick, I called director Jang Hang-jun and confided in him."

She mentioned that director Jang's words were a great support, saying, "Director Jang always checked in on me, asking 'Are you okay?' and provided information. When something happens at home, you become defensive, but he genuinely cared, and I'm still grateful for that."

Kim Soo-jin expressed her affection for her family, saying, "In 2022, my husband underwent major surgery. Since then, I tried to match hospital hours and prepare meals at home three times a day. Although I do it less now, I believe that while treatment happens at the hospital, cooking is the best I can do for someone I love."

Meanwhile, 'The Man Living with the King,' released on the 4th of last month, tells the story of Um Heung-do, who voluntarily exiled himself to revive the village in Cheongryongpo in 1457, and the young dethroned king Danjong Lee Hong-wi. As of 9 AM on the 15th, it surpassed 13 million viewers in 40 days since its release, ranking 10th in the all-time box office.
