Global sensation BTS has released an animation for their upcoming fifth studio album, 'ARIRANG'.
On the morning of the 13th, BigHit Music, a label under HYBE, unveiled an animation on BTS's official social media channels. The animation encapsulates the message of their new album 'ARIRANG'. It begins with seven young men gathered around a phonograph in 1896. As the phonograph's crank is turned, the traditional Korean folk song 'Arirang' plays, instantly captivating viewers. The scene transitions to the young men crossing the Pacific Ocean on a large ship, recording the song in a foreign land, and sharing it with the locals. The setting then shifts to the present day, where BTS takes the stage amidst a sea of purple lights, performing passionately to the cheers of the audience. The animation concludes with BTS standing proudly in front of Gwanghwamun, conveying hope and comfort through music.
The animation draws inspiration from the historical record of 'Arirang' being first recorded in Washington, D.C., in 1896. This momentous event serves as a motif to highlight BTS's role in promoting Korean culture globally. BigHit Music stated, "We wanted to share the story behind 'Arirang' with those unfamiliar with it. We hope many will look up the lyrics and connect with the unique Korean sentiment embedded in the song."
Alongside the animation, BTS also revealed the first group photo for 'ARIRANG'. The members exude sophistication in suits reminiscent of the seven figures in the animation.
BTS is set to release their fifth studio album 'ARIRANG' on March 20 at 1 PM. The album, executive produced by Bang Si-hyuk, features 14 tracks that encapsulate 'the current BTS'. On the following day, March 21, BTS will hold 'BTS The Comeback Live: ARIRANG' at Gwanghwamun Square, which will be broadcast live globally on Netflix.
