K-pop singer Kim Wan-sun has been referred to the prosecution for allegedly operating an unregistered one-person talent agency.
On the 12th, a media outlet reported that the Yongin Dongbu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province had sent Kim Wan-sun to the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office without detention on the 5th, after determining that she violated the Act on the Development of the Public Culture and Arts Industry.
Kim Wan-sun is accused of establishing a one-person agency, KW Sunflower, in 2020 and listing herself as the representative in the corporate registry. However, she allegedly conducted business activities for about five years without registering the agency with the local government, which is a mandatory requirement for cultural and arts planning businesses.
In response, Kim Wan-sun's agency, KW Sunflower, told Ten Asia, "The registration process has now been completed."
Kim Wan-sun's side revealed in September last year that they had recently discovered the omission of the registration process for cultural and arts planning businesses and were in the process of administrative registration. The registration was completed in November last year. However, the police investigated the legality of the previous operations and determined that there was a violation, leading to the referral of Kim Wan-sun and her agency to the prosecution.
