YouTuber FreeZia Sparks Debate Over Smartphone Preferences, Rekindling Past Comments by Singer Sung Si-kyung
YouTuber FreeZia (real name Song Ji-a) has stirred controversy with her recent comments about preferring not to date someone who uses a Galaxy smartphone. This has brought renewed attention to past remarks made by singer Sung Si-kyung regarding Galaxy smartphones.

In a recent video on her YouTube channel 'THE FreeZia,' she visited a nail salon and discussed her boyfriend's choice of phone with the staff. FreeZia commented, "My sister's boyfriend uses a Galaxy Flip," and added, "Honestly, if my boyfriend used a Galaxy, I wouldn't like it."

She continued, "My mom and dad both use Galaxies, but isn't a boyfriend different from parents? The thought of him taking pictures of me with that phone is really annoying," she expressed.

When the nail salon staff suggested taking a picture with a Galaxy foldable phone, FreeZia reacted with distaste, saying, "Oh, really," and emphasized her preference for iPhones, noting, "Aren't photos completely different between Galaxy and iPhone?"

She further stated, "I've never even touched a Galaxy. The only people I can tolerate using a Galaxy are my mom and dad," reiterating her stance.

Following the video's release, online discussions erupted. Some netizens criticized her remarks, saying, "What's wrong with Galaxy?" "Does she only want to date iPhone users?" and "While she can have preferences, her expression is problematic." Others defended her, arguing, "It's just personal taste," and "She simply stated her preferred phone model."

Amidst this, singer Sung Si-kyung's past experience with a Galaxy smartphone has resurfaced. In 2023, during his YouTube content 'Meokultendae,' while dining at a Korean soup restaurant, he filmed his meal with a Galaxy phone and remarked, "Personally, I think Galaxy photos are warmer and come out better than iPhone photos." He shared an anecdote, "A young girl recently asked me, 'Oppa, do you use a 'Gal-egi'?"

Sung Si-kyung noted, "It seems young people naturally assume everyone should use an iPhone and think of Galaxy as a phone for older men." He added, "She was curious and asked, 'Wow, that's interesting, can I see it?'"

He concluded, "I find no inconvenience using a Galaxy, and although I've tried iPhones, I find this more comfortable. Young people are accustomed to Macs and find that environment more convenient and trendy," he explained.

FreeZia's comments have reignited discussions online about generational perceptions and preferences regarding smartphone brands.
