The revamped show 'Welcome, First Time in Korea?' sees the departure of hosts Lee Hyun-yi and Alberto, with DinDin joining as the new MC. The show captures Paco's energetic journey through Korea.
Premiering on the 19th, MBC Every1's 'Welcome, First Time in Korea?' expands its format from a host-invited Korean trip to a new concept where anyone can become a traveler in Korea, even without local friends. The first episode features Paco, known as the 'Eiffel Tower's Icon' for his kindness to Koreans in front of the Eiffel Tower.
On the 4th, the show released stills of Paco's vibrant arrival in Korea, drawing attention. In the photos, Paco is visibly moved as he steps onto Korean soil, unable to hide his excitement. Known for his self-taught Korean skills and love for the country, Paco brightened the atmosphere with his positive energy from the moment he arrived at the airport.
Subsequent photos show Paco's recognition among locals, engaging in conversations and smiling warmly, reminiscent of his friendly demeanor at the Eiffel Tower. His familiarity with Koreans through social media and YouTube raises curiosity about the reception he received on the streets of Korea.
Mysterious friends accompanying Paco also catch the eye. Without a Korean friend's invitation, Paco's solo journey in Korea prompts curiosity about who he will explore Seoul with and the chemistry among the trio.
Meanwhile, former host Alberto recently faced controversy over comments on historical issues between Korea and Japan. In November, during a YouTube discussion on child education, he mentioned, "Our Leo is interested in Korean history and often says, 'Mom, the Japanese were really bad.' But since we have Japanese family members, I advise him to 'listen to both sides.'" Alberto later apologized on social media, reflecting on his "lack of consideration for the weighty topic of Korea-Japan history," acknowledging his "careless remarks" and taking full responsibility.
