Veteran actor Kim Yong-gun recently opened up about his experiences with late fatherhood and grandparenting on the TV Chosun show 'Joseon's Love'.
On the episode aired on the 2nd, Kim Yong-gun, known as the father of actor Ha Jung-woo and father-in-law of actress Hwang Bo-ra, made a special appearance.
Hwang Bo-ra mentioned, "I invited my father-in-law to be a nanny for a day. The longest he's ever babysat is two hours, but today is his first all-day care," as she entrusted her 19-month-old son, Woo-in, to Kim Yong-gun.
At 80 years old, Kim Yong-gun has a young son named Si-on, born in 2021, who is currently 6 years old (5 years old by international age). Kim Yong-gun humorously mixed up his grandson Woo-in's name with his son Si-on's.
Kim Yong-gun shared, "Si-on is 6 years old, so I don't really take care of him; I just keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't go anywhere dangerous. My youngest son had as much energy as my grandson." Hwang Bo-ra added, "I heard my father-in-law even went to a kids' cafe. When I asked if he knew what a 'kids' cafe' was, he said he had been there once." When asked if Si-on and Woo-in had met, Hwang Bo-ra replied, "They met when Woo-in was a baby. I was surprised at how much Si-on had grown and how much he resembled his father. Si-on adores Woo-in."
Kim Yong-gun also recently took his young son to a shopping mall. He noted, "Si-on is quite independent now and chooses his own activities." Hwang Bo-ra expressed admiration, saying, "My father-in-law goes to crowded places to create memories with his young son."
Leaving Woo-in in Kim Yong-gun's care, Hwang Bo-ra went out. Kim Yong-gun seamlessly took on the role of caregiver, reading storybooks and playing with his grandson. He even handled diaper changes with ease, showcasing his grandparenting skills.
