Actress Nam Bo-ra has expressed her desire for a natural childbirth on a recent episode of the KBS 2TV show 'New Release, Pyeonstorang'.
The episode showcased Nam Bo-ra's daily life as she prepares for the birth of her child. During the broadcast, she revealed her hope to have a natural childbirth.
In the aired footage, Nam Bo-ra was seen with an increased appetite due to her pregnancy. She continuously added new dishes to her meal to satisfy her changing cravings, surprising her mother and siblings, Nam Se-bin and Nam So-ra, with her larger-than-usual portions.
After the meal, Nam Bo-ra told her family, "I want to have a natural childbirth." Her mother opposed the idea, saying, "No," while her siblings, unfamiliar with the concept, asked, "Natural delivery?" After Nam Bo-ra explained further, her siblings appeared taken aback. Natural childbirth minimizes medical intervention, avoiding epidurals, episiotomies, enemas, and shaving, focusing instead on the bond between mother and baby. While it has its advocates, there are also concerns about this approach.
During a family meeting, Nam Bo-ra explained her reasons for choosing this method, attempting to persuade her family. However, they remained opposed, with her siblings particularly concerned, saying, "You can't do it because you're not strong enough."
Singer Sunye, watching from the studio, shared her personal experience, stating, "I gave birth to all three of my children at home through natural childbirth," capturing the attention of the cast. She added, "It's common in Canada," offering advice to Nam Bo-ra.
