Actress Lee Chung-ah captivates audiences with her multifaceted performance in 'Honor: Her Court'.
In the ENA Monday-Tuesday drama 'Honor: Her Court' (directed by Park Gun-ho, written by Park Ga-yeon, planned by KT Studio Genie, produced by How Pictures), Lee Chung-ah plays Hwang Hyun-jin, a proactive lawyer at L&J (Listen and Join), a law firm specializing in defending victims of crimes against women. As the drama reaches its midpoint, Lee Chung-ah's portrayal adds depth and excitement to the series.
Lee Chung-ah skillfully depicts Hyun-jin's inner turmoil as she grapples with a secret she must keep hidden. As the plot unfolds, she intricately unravels the character's narrative, caught between a 20-year-old accident shared with Yoon Ra-young (played by Lee Na-young) and Kang Shin-jae (played by Jung Eun-chae), and the heavy secret resulting from an irreversible choice. Particularly, as her husband, Gu Sun-kyu (played by Choi Young-jun), closes in on the investigation of Lee Jun-hyuk's (played by Lee Choong-joo) murder case, Lee Chung-ah conveys tension through fleeting glances and a tense expression. Her inability to immediately respond to Sun-kyu's sharp questions, coupled with her anxious demeanor as she hides the truth, leaves viewers holding their breath. Furthermore, she heightens the drama's immersion by portraying Hyun-jin's guilt and fear over an unexpected pregnancy and the possibility that the child may not be Sun-kyu's, through her precarious gaze and suppressed breathing. Most notably, in the moment of confessing all truths to Sun-kyu, Lee Chung-ah delivers a profound impact by conveying the character's sincerity with a calm voice rather than an outburst of emotion.
Lee Chung-ah's immersive performance in every scene draws viewers deeply into Hwang Hyun-jin's story. She demonstrates her irreplaceable acting range by delicately portraying the character's struggle to protect her loved ones. Rather than merely showing changes according to circumstances, she adds persuasiveness to the character's complex emotional journey, allowing viewers to fully understand it. Additionally, Lee Chung-ah exudes Hyun-jin's candid nature with vibrant energy and completes various chemistry with surrounding characters with her unique charm, adding warmth to the strong-willed character. By flexibly balancing Hyun-jin's strength and intense emotions, Lee Chung-ah makes viewers root for Hwang Hyun-jin.
In the latest episode, as the past of the three L&J lawyers, Ra-young, Shin-jae, and Hyun-jin, from 20 years ago is revealed, victims of 'Connect In' begin to courageously visit the office, empathizing with their pain. Anticipation is building for how the trio will turn this crisis into an opportunity to bring down the formidable 'Connect In'.
'Honor' airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM on ENA and is available on KT Genie TV and Coupang Play.
