The latest episode of Channel A's 'Secrets of Detectives' unveiled a series of shocking real-life stories, including a husband's addiction to infidelity.
On the episode aired on the 23rd, the 'Detective 24 Hours' segment featured a 20-year-old's plea to find his father, who he lost contact with 18 years ago. The young man was left with his paternal family after his parents divorced when he was just two. However, his aunt and uncle, moved by his situation, took him in and raised him as their own alongside their two sons for 18 years. It was revealed that his mother only visited once during his elementary school graduation and provided a mere 300,000 won in child support over the years, leaving many speechless.
Adding to the emotional weight, the young man's aunt is in the final stages of kidney failure and urgently needs a transplant. Despite the young man's willingness to donate his kidney, his aunt tearfully declined, saying, "Thank you, but I can't accept it. You have so many more years ahead of you..." This heart-wrenching moment left viewers deeply moved.
The aunt expressed her wish for her nephew to meet his father and relieve the emotional burden before her condition worsens. Watching this, Defconn commented, "The aunt's health is so poor that she's afraid she might not be able to protect her nephew any longer," unable to hide his sorrow. The detective duo sought information from the young man's mother, but were shocked by her dismissive reaction upon hearing her son's name. Kim Poong expressed his anger, saying, "She seems to think of him as less than a stranger," while Defconn added, "It's as if she's erased the marriage and childbirth from her memory." The detectives then followed leads to what they believed to be the father's family home. Whether they succeed in finding the father will be revealed in next week's episode.
Meanwhile, the 'Case Notebook' segment featured a mother's distress over her son's 'infidelity addiction.' A renowned marriage counselor, the mother sought the detectives' help, fearing her son's infidelity after his remarriage would tarnish her reputation and career. She had previously paid a large settlement to her son's first wife to manage the fallout from his first divorce.
Two years later, her son remarried a pharmacist, but signs of infidelity emerged again. Investigations revealed that he was having an affair with his wife's friend and was caught in the act at home, leading to a potential divorce. Guest detective Jo Min-hee remarked, "Infidelity is the one thing that can't be forgiven between a couple," sharing her own family's experience with infidelity's lasting scars.
Shockingly, it was discovered that the son's wife orchestrated the entire situation to gain access to her mother-in-law's wealth. She arranged for her husband to meet her friend at a reunion and scheduled appointments at the same aesthetic clinic as his ex-wife to facilitate encounters. Using this as leverage, she secured joint ownership of her mother-in-law's house and planned to relocate the pharmacy her mother-in-law had set up for her to a prime location in Gangnam. Her chilling statement, "A dog can't stop eating poop. I just threw the bait, and my husband took it," left everyone stunned. The son's second marriage also ended in divorce, and the mother had no choice but to settle with a confidentiality agreement.
