Singer Isabella has shared the tearful story of being separated from her husband, who is suffering from severe dementia.
On the October 19th episode of MBN's 'Special World,' Isabella, who is battling stage 4 colorectal cancer, revealed the circumstances that led to her separation from her husband.
During the broadcast, Isabella was seen hiding the remote control and medication before her husband, who was temporarily home from the nursing facility, arrived. She appeared tense as she prepared for his visit.
She explained the reason for securing the house, saying, "(My husband) eats anything. There was a big incident once when he ate something meant for external use." This was due to the worsening symptoms of her husband's dementia.
Her husband began showing signs of dementia at the early age of 67. Isabella expressed her sorrow, saying, "I didn't expect the dementia to progress so quickly. It was gradual at first, but it's getting worse."
Isabella has spent 30 years with her husband, who is 10 years her senior and an architect. However, he began exhibiting severe dementia symptoms six years ago. She recounted, "He started having trouble with words 15 years ago, but six years ago, he couldn't even use a bus card," describing the rapid deterioration of his condition.
Isabella, who used to help her husband with word exercises, shared, "He has now forgotten the word 'mom.' He doesn't know what 'mom' means anymore," adding, "I'm afraid I'll be the next one he forgets. I can still see the look in his eyes that he likes me, and I'm scared that will disappear."
