Eric Dane, the beloved actor known for his roles in the hit TV series 'Grey's Anatomy' and HBO's 'Euphoria,' has passed away at the age of 53. This comes approximately 10 months after he publicly announced his diagnosis with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).

According to reports from People and other international media outlets, Dane's family released a statement saying, "Eric Dane passed away after a courageous battle with ALS." ALS is a rare and incurable disease that selectively destroys motor neurons, leading to muscle atrophy.

The family shared that "he spent his final moments surrounded by loving friends, his devoted wife, and his two daughters, Billie and Georgia. During his illness, he was committed to raising awareness and supporting research for ALS." They added, "He was always grateful for the love and support he received. We ask for privacy during this difficult time."

Eric Dane revealed his ALS diagnosis in April of last year. Shortly after, he expressed his determination to continue working by announcing the resumption of filming for 'Euphoria.' Despite missing the Emmy Awards in September due to health concerns, he remained active, working on his memoir and other projects.

Dane first gained recognition in 2006 with his role as Mark Sloan in 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 2. He later received critical acclaim for his complex portrayal of Cal Jacobs in 'Euphoria.' He married actress Rebecca Gayheart in 2004, and they have two daughters together.
