Chef Kim Sung-woon Launches YouTube Channel and Plans Pop-Up Events

Chef Kim Sung-woon has announced plans to launch a YouTube channel and host pop-up events.

Recently, at Table Four Four in Hannam-dong, Seoul, we caught up with Chef Kim Sung-woon, who participated in Netflix's reality show 'Black and White Chef 2'.

Chef Kim, who finished in a tie for 8th place as a 'white spoon' contestant on the show, leads the Italian restaurant 'Table Four Four' and the Korean pub 'Pocha Four Four'. He expresses his identity as a 'Taean person' through dishes that utilize seasonal seafood and local ingredients from Taean. On 'Black and White Chef 2', Chef Kim showcased a cooking style focused on local ingredients and authentic flavors, bringing a genuine touch to the show's reality.

After the show, participating chefs have been actively engaging in various activities, including television appearances and launching collaborative products. When asked about his plans for television, Chef Kim stated, "I have no plans for TV appearances. However, I am preparing my personal YouTube channel."

The reason behind Chef Kim's venture into YouTube is his 'ready-made content'. He explained, "I've opened a pocha-themed establishment. I have a wide network, and I want to host pop-ups with them at this venue." He added, "I've already done a gimbap pop-up, and more are scheduled for April and May. Opportunities to meet such people are rare, and I don't want to let this content go to waste. I'm willing to invest my own money to film it myself." Chef Kim has already scheduled pop-up events through October.

Despite appearing introverted on the show, Chef Kim is actually an extrovert who enjoys socializing. He clarified, "When I'm cooking, I become completely introverted. I need to focus, and that side of me was visible on the show." He continued, "I don't play music in the kitchen. I dislike background noise. In my kitchen, only the sounds of cooking should be heard. When I arrive, people turn off the music. I enjoy the sounds of fire, grilling, washing dishes, and running water."
