Actor Park Hae-jun Discusses His Criteria for Choosing Roles and His Experience in 'Humint'

Actor Park Hae-jun recently shared his criteria for selecting roles.

In a recent interview at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, Park Hae-jun discussed his role in the film 'Humint'.

Directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, 'Humint' tells the story of individuals with different motives clashing in Vladivostok.

Park Hae-jun takes on the role of Hwang Chi-sung, the North Korean Consul General in Vladivostok. Known for his tear-jerking portrayal of a loving father in the Netflix series 'My Liberation Notes', Park transforms into a villain in this film.

When asked if he feels suited to playing antagonists, Park replied, "I don't specifically want to play villains. I just take on good projects when they come my way."

He candidly discussed his criteria for choosing scripts, saying, "(Jo) In-sung says he takes on Ryoo Seung-wan's projects without even reading the script. I always read the script," he laughed, adding, "With Director Ryoo, you could probably take on a project without reading the script because the final product is always better than the script."

He continued, "I have faith that whether the role is big or small, it won't turn out badly with him."

Park also mentioned that there are various criteria for a good project. "There are good environments and the anticipation of having fun while shooting. I don't want to nitpick each one, but if there's even one of those elements, I tend to lean towards that choice," he said.

He expressed his affection for co-star Jo In-sung, saying, "In-sung has a big heart. His broad gaze in the final scene really captured the essence of the film, and I loved it."

He added, "Watching that scene, I felt like the 'tall uncle' embraced us on set and in the film," expressing his gratitude.

The film 'Humint' was released on the 11th.
