According to Chungju City on the 13th, Kim submitted his resignation to the personnel department the previous day and has since taken an extended leave. He is expected to officially leave his position by the end of the month.
Kim addressed his followers directly through a YouTube video, stating, "Hello, this is Kim Sun-tae. After 10 years in public service and 7 years as 'Chungju Man,' it's time to say goodbye." He added, "The small success I achieved was thanks to the support of my subscribers."
Kim has been working as the head of the New Media Team, managing Chungju City's YouTube channel and social media promotions. He has gained recognition as a civil servant influencer with around 970,000 subscribers. His achievements were acknowledged with a promotion to grade 6 at the end of 2023, just 7 years after his appointment, a notable feat considering the typical 15-year progression from grade 9 to grade 6.
