Actor Choi Woo-shik proves his star power once again.
The film 'Number One,' which premiered on the 11th, is bringing warmth to theaters just in time for the Lunar New Year holiday, establishing itself as a healing movie for the whole family. In this film, Choi captivates audiences with his signature relatable acting and perfect pacing.
'Number One' tells the story of Ha-min (played by Choi Woo-shik), who starts seeing numbers decrease every time he eats his mother's food. He discovers that when the number reaches zero, his mother Eun-sil (played by Jang Hye-jin) will die, prompting him to do everything he can to protect her.
Choi Woo-shik delivers a nuanced performance as Ha-min, who must watch his mother's remaining time through numbers only he can see. He seamlessly portrays the character's journey from high school student to working adult, creating a relatable connection with the audience even within the film's fantasy setting.
The chemistry among the cast is another highlight. Reuniting as mother and son after 'Parasite,' Choi Woo-shik and Jang Hye-jin establish a natural, familial dynamic. Their interactions, from simple dialogue to meaningful glances, solidify the film's emotional core.
Additionally, Choi's chemistry with Gong Seung-yeon (playing Ryeo-eun) injects fresh energy into the film. He balances the potentially heavy narrative with a light rhythm, effortlessly transitioning between humor, romance, tears, and emotion.
Once again proving his worth as a reliable actor, Choi Woo-shik stars in 'Number One,' now showing in theaters nationwide.
