Shin Se-kyung Discusses Her Role and Chemistry with Park Jung-min in 'Humint'

Actress Shin Se-kyung candidly shared her thoughts on the romantic storyline and her on-screen chemistry with Park Jung-min in the film 'Humint'.

On the 9th, Shin Se-kyung was interviewed at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, where she discussed her role in 'Humint'.

'Humint' tells the story of individuals who collide in Vladivostok with different objectives. Shin Se-kyung plays Chae Sun-hwa, a North Korean restaurant worker in Vladivostok who becomes an informant for the NIS section chief, played by Jo In-sung, and finds herself in danger.

The film combines action and romance, and Shin Se-kyung noted, "The director once said, 'The reason for movement comes from emotion.' I liked the script, but the completed film made the romantic emotions feel even deeper."

At the heart of the romantic storyline are Shin Se-kyung and Park Jung-min. Park Jung-min plays Park Geon, Chae Sun-hwa's former fiancé. Shin Se-kyung described her chemistry with Park Jung-min as "great," adding, "Filming was fun, and I relied on him emotionally." She continued, "Park Jung-min had already worked with director Ryu Seung-wan, so he knew the set better than I did. He helped me a lot when I had questions or doubts, which helped me adapt faster."

Regarding Park Jung-min's charm, she said, "Working alongside him, you can't help but notice his charm. No matter how chaotic things get, he quietly does his job, which is admirable. It might sound like a cliché in interviews, but it's not." She also praised him, saying, "There were many times I thought, 'I should be like that too.' I realized, 'That's how he does it, and this is the result.'"

Shin Se-kyung also expressed gratitude towards Jo In-sung, who plays the NIS section chief. She described Jo In-sung as "a great leader," recalling, "Filming overseas for a long time isn't easy, but he took care of everyone, from junior actors to staff." She emphasized, "He was considerate without ever showing off, which was impressive."

One of the most memorable acts of kindness was the 'meal inquiry episode.' Shin Se-kyung shared, "I was the youngest among the main actors. To avoid making me feel burdened, he asked fellow actor Lee Shin-ki, who is my age, to ask me if I wanted to go eat or have pho. I found out later and was very touched."

Chae Sun-hwa is a character who receives love from Park Geon and protection from the section chief until the end. Shin Se-kyung said, "I felt good playing a character who is so loved," and laughed. She added, "Watching the completed film, my heart raced when the two men stepped on the gas to save Sun-hwa."

'Humint' is set to be released on the 11th.
