Actor Park Shin-yang, who transitioned to a career as an artist, has revealed why he hasn't sold any of his paintings in the past 14 years.
On October 8, the YouTube channel 'Psick Univ' released a video titled 'Asking Park Shin-yang About the New Season of Psick Show.' The video featured Park Shin-yang, who is living his second life as an artist after his acting career.
When asked if he ever suffered from 'celebrity syndrome,' Park Shin-yang admitted, "I had a tough time. Many people recognized me on the streets, but they saw me as my character from 'Lovers in Paris.' They would even ask, 'Why is Han Ki-joo dressed casually?'"
Despite being an artist for 14 years, Park Shin-yang has not sold his paintings. Lee Yong-joo, who was present, expressed curiosity, saying, "I heard you don't sell your works."
Park Shin-yang explained, "As someone who acted, many people could see and feel my efforts. The biggest downside of painting is that no one can see it. It's not about whether to sell or not."
He continued, "I believe that showing the work first and letting people feel emotions gives it meaning. If you show and sell at the same time, naturally, people ask, 'How much is it?'" He shared his philosophy as an artist.
Park Shin-yang added, "More than that, I want to talk about 'what the painting feels like,' 'why I painted it,' and 'what people felt.'" Having been an artist for 14 years, he shared his dedication, saying, "Apart from painting, I just slept. I would wake up and paint again."
Listening to this, Lee Yong-joo expressed, "People support your art career, but they also want to see you in new movies or dramas." Park Shin-yang left the door open for a return to acting, saying, "I might do it someday," but added, "How can I promise that?" avoiding a definitive answer.
