Singer Park Seo-jin expressed his worries and anxieties over his mother's new health scare after she had been declared cancer-free from cervical cancer.
On the October 7th episode of KBS2's variety show 'Men Who Do Housework Season 2', Park Seo-jin, who has long suffered from insomnia, was shown struggling to sleep due to concerns for his family.
During the broadcast, Park Seo-jin shared the shocking news that his mother, who had recently been declared free of cervical cancer, was now suspected of having thyroid cancer. He confessed, "It felt like I was hit on the head," revealing his anxiety and worry.
Park Seo-jin explained, "One day, my mom's voice just wouldn't come out. It was so hoarse that it sounded metallic. She had a lump in her neck, and when we went to the hospital, they suspected thyroid cancer and recommended a biopsy. It felt like I was hit on the head."
Only two years after being declared free of cervical cancer, Park Seo-jin was reminded of his mother's past battle with the disease. Coupled with his father's cerebrovascular disease and his sister Hyo-jung's health issues, his worries and anxieties grew, leading to a resurgence of his insomnia.
As his worries deepened, Park Seo-jin found his sister Hyo-jung eating a late-night snack and yelled at her, saying things he didn't mean.
Feeling hurt, Hyo-jung declared she would leave home and was shown sitting alone at a bus stop, shedding tears, evoking sympathy from viewers.
Unaware of Park Seo-jin's feelings, his sister Hyo-jung was secretly eating chewy cookies from Dubai at 2 AM. Upon discovering this, Park Seo-jin scolded her, "Why are you eating at this hour without taking care of yourself? You're just like mom. It's all your fault."
Unable to hide her anger and disappointment, Hyo-jung declared, "I'm going to Samcheonpo. Don't look for me," and left home. The next morning, she packed her bags and headed to the bus stop. Upon learning of this, their parents rushed to Samcheonpo. They comforted Hyo-jung and scolded Park Seo-jin, but eventually, the family reconciled, and the incident was resolved.
The episode resonated with viewers by portraying the realistic dynamics of family conflicts and affection, garnering significant empathy.
