Chef Kim Hoon's refrigerator has been unveiled.
On the October 5th episode of MBC's variety show 'Save Me! Holmes' (hereafter referred to as 'Holmes'), the 'Black and White Zone' special featured spaces of chefs who gained fame on Netflix's 'Black and White Chef 2'.
The episode revisited the memorable 'Cooking Oddball' Yoon Nam-no and 'Goddess of Chinese Cuisine' Park Eun-young from the first season of 'Black and White Chef'. They joined Kim Sook to explore and analyze the dining districts in Yongsan and Gangnam, where many 'Black and White Chef' participants have their restaurants.
The first stop was 'Yongridan-gil', a prominent commercial area in Yongsan known for its corporate offices and dining demand. Here, they met Chef Kim Hoon, who appeared as the 'Black Spoon Trendsetter' in 'Black and White Chef 2'. He has been running a restaurant in Yongridan-gil for six years, contributing to the area's growth. Yongridan-gil is characterized by its 'enclosed market' structure, minimizing consumer outflow.
The trio then visited Kim Hoon's home. Operating three establishments in Yongridan-gil, he chose his residence for its proximity to work. His home, shown for the first time on TV, revealed a fridge stocked with drinks and expired sauces, highlighting a common trait among chefs, as Park Eun-young and Yoon Nam-no also admitted to rarely cooking at home.
Next, they explored Haebangchon, another Yongsan district. Known for its charming buildings and trendy spots along steep hills, it has become popular among the MZ generation. 'Black and White Chef' participants also have restaurants here. During the visit, Michelin-starred Chef Kim Hee-eun, known as the 'White Spoon' from 'Black and White Chef 2', made a surprise appearance.
After touring Haebangchon, they arrived at the space of 'Eccentric Genius' Chef Lee Chan-yang, famous for his quail nest dish on 'Black and White Chef 2'. Contrary to his nickname, his home was neatly organized, though his cluttered fridge drew laughs. He also shared his unique leftover beef shabu ramen recipe, sparking interest.
Finally, the trio headed to Gangnam, teasing a meeting with the 'French Papa', who has been running a French restaurant in Cheongdam-dong for 17 years.
