Former After School member and broadcaster Lizzy has sparked concern among fans after expressing severe depression and an unstable mental state during a recent Instagram Live session.
On the 28th, Lizzy candidly shared her thoughts on her career and personal feelings during the live broadcast. She described being a celebrity as a "profession where everything is exposed" and mentioned, "If someone wants to pursue a public career, I would advise against it, especially for female idols, as it seems particularly challenging."
Lizzy further revealed, "I don't regret choosing this career, but I do blame myself for many of my actions." She added, "My depression is so severe that my account was suspended for discussing it, so I had to switch to another platform for the broadcast." She tearfully expressed, "People say why struggle in such a good world, but it's too hard for me to live. What good is a great world if I'm struggling?"
During the broadcast, Lizzy made comments hinting at negative choices, alarming viewers and prompting a flood of concerned and dissuasive messages in the comments. She appeared visibly shaken by questions about her appearance and plastic surgery, and she drew a line when discussing past medical complications that necessitated additional surgery. The live session ended abruptly after a person, presumed to be an acquaintance, joined the conversation.
Lizzy debuted with After School in 2010 and gained popularity with the sub-unit Orange Caramel. After receiving a fine for a DUI incident in 2021, she took time off for reflection. Recently, she has been attempting to resume her career, including hosting a solo fan meeting in Japan. However, her recent broadcast has left fans worried about her precarious mental state.
Previously, actor Ahn Jae-wook faced controversy after being caught for DUI twice, in 2003 and 2019, following his '2025 KBS Drama Awards' win.
