Korean actress Hwang Woo Seul Hye recently shared an amusing anecdote about her stage name, which means 'to become a wise and intelligent person in the universe.' She revealed that the naming agency responsible for her unique name has since gone out of business. Her real name is Hwang Jin Hee.
On October 25, the YouTube channel 'Ppadduners' uploaded a video titled 'Hwang Woo Seul Hye vs. Han Woo Jool Lae? A Comic Showdown with the Top Comedic Actress | Ddakdae EP56 Hwang Woo Seul Hye (Final Episode).' The video featured a humorous exchange between Hwang and the host, Sam Moon.
Sam Moon commented on the uniqueness of Hwang's name, suggesting that international fans might find it difficult to pronounce. Hwang humorously responded that she tries to hold back for the fans' sake. When Sam Moon jokingly asked if she also refrains from winning awards at international film festivals, Hwang quipped, "Yes, I hold back on that too," adding, "But I don't hold back on swearing."
Sam Moon suggested that she consider an easier stage name, but Hwang clarified that 'Hwang Woo Seul Hye' is already a stage name, with her real name being Hwang Jin Hee. She explained, "'Hwang' is my family name, and 'Woo Seul Hye' means to become a wise and intelligent person in the universe," noting that it was created by a naming agency.
Sam Moon teased her, saying, "But it didn't turn out that way. Isn't it the opposite? Where's that naming agency? Didn't it go out of business?" Hwang confirmed with a laugh, "Yes, it's gone." When asked about the cost, Hwang said, "My mom paid for it, so I'm not sure," eliciting laughter.
