Jeong-suk from the 29th season of 'I Am Solo' has shared the behind-the-scenes story of her whirlwind engagement to fiancé Young-chul, along with the tale behind a luxury handbag gift.
On the YouTube channel 'SBS Plus Spls', operated by SBS Plus, a video titled 'Older Women Who Captivated Younger Men: Solo Reaction Special' was released.
The video featured a special episode with female participants from the 29th season, including Ok-soon, Jeong-suk, Young-ja, and Young-sook.
Jeong-suk addressed the buzz around Young-chul's comment, "Chanel bag, everyone out," explaining, "It wasn't about the Chanel bag itself, but rather the lack of manners when someone enters and mentions a luxury bag before greeting others." She clarified that she wasn't defending Young-chul just because he's her fiancé, but added that he is indeed generous with luxury gifts.
According to Jeong-suk, Young-chul gifted her several luxury items within a month of dating. She shared, "Young-chul often says he'll buy me Chanel bags until I'm tired of them and even promises Hermes, showing his affectionate side," which has drawn envy from those around them. Despite his stern image on the show, Young-chul is known to be charming and playful with Jeong-suk.
Their wedding preparations have also progressed swiftly, thanks to Young-chul's decisiveness. Jeong-suk recalled, "Outside the show, Young-chul was completely different—kind and fun." She mentioned that Young-chul, considering Jeong-suk's age approaching 40, insisted on not wasting time on dating and pushed for marriage. Within 2-3 weeks of dating, Young-chul prepared gifts and visited Jeong-suk's parents to formally introduce himself.
Jeong-suk also mentioned the challenges of keeping their relationship under wraps, saying, "After the show started, we couldn't go out, but Young-chul visited me every week," expressing her gratitude. Born in 1988, Jeong-suk and Young-chul, born in 1991, have already registered their marriage and are set to hold their official wedding ceremony on April 4th.
