Rapper Gaeko and entrepreneur Kim Su-mi have announced their divorce after 14 years of marriage.
On October 16, Gaeko took to his social media to share the personal news, stating, "With a cautious heart, I am sharing some personal news." He continued, "Last year, after many long conversations, we decided to end our relationship as a couple while respecting each other's lives." He also emphasized their commitment to co-parenting, saying, "We will continue to fulfill our roles as parents and ask for your warm support."
On the same day, Kim Su-mi also announced the split on her social media, echoing Gaeko's sentiments. She stated, "With a cautious heart, I share this personal story," and explained that after extensive discussions last year, they decided to part ways as a couple while respecting each other's lives.
Kim Su-mi added, "Both of us will continue to fulfill our responsibilities and roles as parents." She requested, "Please watch over us with a warm perspective rather than excessive interest or premature interpretations."
The couple, who married in 2011, have a son and a daughter. Gaeko, a member of the hip-hop duo Dynamic Duo, has been active in the music scene, while Kim Su-mi is an influencer and entrepreneur managing her brand and content activities. Their divorce announcement comes as a surprise to many, as they had recently shared photos from a trip to Japan celebrating their wedding anniversary, showcasing their seemingly happy marriage.
