Webtoon artist and broadcaster Kian84 has shared his candid thoughts ahead of a daunting challenge.
MBC's variety show 'Extreme84' has unveiled its official poster for the final journey set against the backdrop of the Arctic.
The released poster features Kian84, Kwon Hwa-woon, and Kangnam standing against a frozen landscape and glaciers. Their varied expressions and stances in the face of harsh nature hint at the 'ultimate extreme' that will conclude this season, leaving a strong impression. Clad in thick winter gear, the crew relies on each other amidst the rough environment, conveying both tension and determination as they approach the final marathon.
This Arctic marathon marks the final leg of 'Extreme84,' following the African South Africa BIG5 Marathon and the French Médoc Marathon. In a land rarely touched by humans, the crew will tackle an unimaginable 42.195km amidst endless snowfields and strong winds. Having completed previous marathons without a single dropout, the crew is set to test their limits once more in this unforgiving terrain.
Ahead of the Arctic marathon, Kian84 expressed his concerns, stating, “Running in the Arctic is unimaginable,” and admitted, “I’m worried about whether I can do this well.” He also shared his mixed feelings of excitement and fear, saying, “When else would I get to run on Arctic glaciers?” Ace runner Kwon Hwa-woon added to the gravity of the challenge, saying, “I don’t think there will be another full marathon like this in my life. It’s terrifying.”
Kangnam, who joined the crew thanks to Kian84, also draws attention. Having taken up running through Kian84, Kangnam now faces the highest hurdle of polar marathon through this Arctic episode. Kian84, Kwon Hwa-woon, and Kangnam have been rigorously training together to prepare for the extreme cold and terrain of the Arctic marathon.
In the Arctic marathon, Kwon Hwa-woon aims for first place, while Kian84 and Kangnam focus on completing the race within the time limit, each pursuing their own goals. Their race, with its mix of record-setting and completion goals, heightens the tension of this final journey.
The production team stated, “This poster aims to capture both the overwhelming scale of the Arctic and the relationships of the crew enduring together within it,” and added, “Watch to see what emotions and conclusions they reach in the final marathon.”
MBC's 'Extreme84' airs every Sunday at 9:10 PM.
