Actress Seo Yea-ji is set to make her theatrical debut with the play 'Death Song'(사의 찬미). After taking a brief hiatus due to personal controversies, Seo returned to the spotlight with her role in the 2022 tvN drama 'Eve'.
Seo Yea-ji, known for her performances in dramas such as 'Eve', 'It's Okay to Not Be Okay', 'Save Me', and the film 'Recalled', is challenging herself with her first-ever stage performance.
The play 'Death Song' is a narrative set in the tumultuous 1920s, exploring the love and unyielding desire for freedom among artists of that era.
In 'Death Song', Seo Yea-ji will portray the tragic soprano Yoon Sim-deok, a character who defied societal constraints with her passion for art, love, and personal choice. Yoon Sim-deok is reimagined as a figure who actively shapes her life and relationships, rather than merely being swept away by her tragic fate.
The 2026 season of the play will focus on the process of choice and the autonomy of its characters, promising a multidimensional portrayal. Seo Yea-ji's transformation is expected to enhance the play's depth, drawing from her solid acting skills demonstrated in previous dramas and films.
Seo Yea-ji's debut play 'Death Song' will be performed from January 30, 2026, to March 2, 2026, at the Sejong Center M Theater in Seoul. Tickets are available through NOL Ticket and the Sejong Center's website.
