Chef Ahn Sung-jae, known for his YouTube channel 'Chef Ahn Sung-jae', recently visited Daegu to meet culinary expert Ahn Kyung-sook, who gained fame on the show 'Black and White Chef' under the name 'Cheonman Baekban'.
In a video titled 'Re-evaluating the 'Rice' Table of Cheonman Baekban's Mom', Ahn Sung-jae revisits the dishes of Ahn Kyung-sook, whom he had previously critiqued for lacking rice in her dish, leading to her elimination from the show.
Upon arriving at Ahn Kyung-sook's restaurant, Ahn Sung-jae was surprised by the bustling crowd. Ahn Kyung-sook expressed her gratitude, noting that her restaurant has been consistently busy since her appearance on 'Black and White Chef Season 1'.
Ahn Kyung-sook shared that visitors often seek her out, including international guests wanting photos. Despite her elimination, she remains a popular figure.
Discussing the show's outcome, Ahn Kyung-sook mentioned that customers often question why she didn't serve rice, with some even disagreeing with the judges' critique of her dish being too salty.
Ahn Sung-jae acknowledged the feedback, stating, "Many people ask me if it was really that salty or if it warranted elimination. I was just trying to stay true to my judgment at that moment." He then tasted Ahn Kyung-sook's oyster pancake and kimchi, noting the addition of bossam, which wasn't present during the competition.
After tasting the dishes, Ahn Sung-jae praised them, saying, "It's much better than I remember." Ahn Kyung-sook requested feedback on any potential improvements, to which Ahn Sung-jae responded, "I've hurt many people with my critiques."
