G-Dragon has ignited a public debate by leaving a comment on his criticized MAMA stage performance video.
On November 29, at the '2025 MAMA Awards' held at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium, G-Dragon was highlighted as one of the most notable artists of the year. He swept three major awards, including Best Dance Performance, Best Male Artist, and the grand prize, 'Visa Artist of the Year.'
During his performance, G-Dragon showcased songs like 'DRAMA,' 'Heartbreaker,' and 'Untitled, 2014,' with beatboxer Wing accompanying him. However, the performance fell short of expectations. His voice faltered during high notes, and there were repeated instances where he stopped singing, with much of the performance relying on AR.
Amidst the criticism of his skills, on November 30, G-Dragon left a comment on the MAMA official account's post of his performance video. He simply posted a 'thumbs down' emoji, drawing attention. This is not the first time G-Dragon's live performances have been controversial. Last year, he faced similar criticism for an unstable live performance at the '2024 SBS Gayo Daejeon.'
Opinions are divided on social media. Some say, "Is he trying to act cool by preemptively criticizing himself?", "He should be embarrassed," "He seems to lack professionalism," "He should have rested if he wasn't in good condition," "He seems anxious lately," and "I hope he takes care of his health." These reactions reflect both concern over his performance skills and his well-being.
