Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi has revealed the trauma he experienced from appearing on variety shows during his early career.
On the September 29th broadcast of MBN's 'Kim Joo-ha's Day & Night,' Lee Seung-gi appeared as a guest.
During the show, Lee Seung-gi shared, "I didn't have a period of obscurity and quickly became successful, which made things difficult afterward. I wasn't prepared for the fame and couldn't handle it," he began. At just 17 years old, he gained immense popularity, leading to numerous variety show appearances.
Lee Seung-gi specifically mentioned the popular variety show 'X-Man,' hosted by Yoo Jae-suk, saying, "Whenever Jae-suk hyung shouted 'Dance Time!', my heart would shrink. Every time, I hoped he wouldn't call on me and that I would make a mistake," he confessed.
He further added, "Even now, when I hear Britney Spears' 'Toxic,' my heart races. Variety shows left a lasting trauma."
Reflecting on the challenging period, Lee Seung-gi said, "My songs were popular, so I appeared on many variety shows, but as a mere high school student, I couldn't act naturally in front of dozens of famous people I only saw on TV. I got scolded a lot and made up to nine mistakes (NGs) at times," he recalled.
