Na Sang-hyun's Band Member Withdraws Lawsuit Over False Allegations by Minor
Na Sang-hyun, a member of the Na Sang-hyun Band, has announced the withdrawal of a lawsuit regarding allegations of sexual misconduct at a drinking party, stating that the accusations were false and made by a minor.

On the 28th, the band's agency, January, released an official statement saying, "We proceeded with a lawsuit against minor A, who spread false information. However, we confirmed that A was in a severely weakened mental state." The agency added, "After receiving a sincere apology and a written apology, we drafted a settlement agreement and withdrew the lawsuit on the 26th. There was no monetary exchange involved in this process."

Previously, in May, an anonymous post accused Na Sang-hyun of sexual misconduct at a past drinking party. The alleged victim claimed, "If the person sitting next to him was a woman, he would touch her thigh when drunk," and added, "If the woman was sober and objected, he would act surprised and say it was a 'mistake.'" The accuser also mentioned, "I apologize for the vagueness as there is no evidence since it happened in private."

In response, Na Sang-hyun took to X (formerly Twitter) the following day, stating, "I unintentionally hurt the writer due to my lack of memory of specific details after drinking in the past." He expressed his desire to offer a personal apology, acknowledging the delay.

He further admitted, "About 3-4 years ago, I was criticized for my behavior while intoxicated and have since made efforts to improve with the help of those around me." He promised to reflect deeply to prevent similar incidents and apologized again to the affected individual.

Na Sang-hyun has been known for his interest in women's rights and respect for female fans, making the allegations particularly shocking to his supporters.

However, the agency later reversed its stance, stating, "The apology was issued from a moral responsibility standpoint, and the allegations are not true."

Despite Na Sang-hyun's acknowledgment of the misconduct, he faced criticism from fans, with comments like, "If you pretended to be considerate, you should manage your image in private too," and "This is comical." He also faced backlash for posting the apology on the less popular platform X, with demands to post it on Instagram as well.

As a result of the controversy, Na Sang-hyun Band was removed from several festival lineups, including the Seoul Jazz Festival 2025.

Na Sang-hyun Band is composed entirely of Seoul National University graduates. Na Sang-hyun himself graduated from the university's Department of Communication and majored in Entertainment at the Metaverse Graduate School. He is known for his skills as a vocalist and guitarist, as well as for writing and composing all the band's songs.
