As of the 28th, 1G's YouTube channel, '@im1G,'(원지의하루) has 1 million subscribers, down from 1.02 million before the controversy. The subscriber decline began after the release of the video titled 'Looking for a 6-Pyeong Office' on the 20th.
The controversial video showed three employees working in a windowless, approximately 6-pyeong (about 213 square feet) office located on the second basement level. The comments section was filled with criticism such as "Three people in such a cramped space," "It must be suffocating to handle deliveries there," and "Who uses a second basement as an office?"
In response, 1G made the video private and issued her first explanation. She stated, "The video may not have fully conveyed the building's ventilation system or structure, leading to perceptions of a more severe environment than reality." She explained that the office was chosen because the building's ventilation system allowed for air circulation, despite the lack of windows. "As it was my first office, there were many areas where I lacked experience," she added, promising to improve based on the feedback received.
However, criticism continued. Online discussions resurfaced about 1G's business class flights and luxury purchases, as well as her separate, comfortable office in Hannam-dong. Critics questioned whether she prioritized her convenience over employee welfare.
As the controversy persisted, 1G acknowledged on the 21st, "I take the criticism about the office environment seriously. As an employer, I should have prioritized the working conditions and welfare of my employees, who spend their daily hours there." She admitted, "It was my oversight to make a hasty decision in choosing the office. Without the criticism, I might have continued to demand sacrifices from my employees, which is embarrassing to realize."
1G concluded by stating, "I will immediately discuss with my employees to relocate to a more spacious and comfortable office," aiming to resolve the controversy.
